BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- The US guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson sailed through the Taiwan Strait on August 22 and hyped it up. Naval Senior Captain Li Xi, spokesperson for the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command, slammed such provocative move in a written statement released on Thursday.
The spokesperson said that the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command had organized naval and air forces to track and monitor the US destroyer's transit in the whole course and handled it in accordance with law and regulations.
“The troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command will remain on high alert at all times and resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and regional peace and stability," stressed the spokesperson.
