BEIJING, Jan. 2 -- According to provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Garrisoning the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and approved by China's Central Military Commission (CMC), some officers assigned to the Chinese PLA Hong Kong Garrison completed their deployment in Hong Kong and returned to the mainland on December 30, 2023. This is the 25th officer rotation of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison since Hong Kong's return to the motherland in 1997.
A farewell ceremony was held to see off those officers. During their deployment in Hong Kong, these officers had faithfully performed their responsibilities, committed themselves to the posts, and showed great care to the local people. They accomplished various major tasks such as joint patrols and joint training exercises, and held military camp open day activities, earning high praise from all sectors of society in Hong Kong.
Newly-deployed officers have arrived in Hong Kong recently to take over the garrisoning responsibilities.
