BEJING, Aug. 8 -- Granny Liu, who was 95-year-old, lived alone in Liuli Town, Fangshan District, Beijing. Poor in hearing and unable to move freely, she was so frightened by the sudden flood in early August this year that she refused to be evacuated by the rescue team assigned to a detachment of the Chinese PAP First Mobile Corps. The soldiers patiently comforted her, and finally persuaded her to go with them from the flooded neighborhood.
