BEIJING, Dec 1 -- The video seminar of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum will be held at Beijing Xiangshan Yihe Hotel from December 1 to 2, 2020.
Themed on “Enhancing International Cooperation: Responding to New International Security Challenges”, this year’s seminar will feature four major topics: the new security situation in the Asia-Pacific, future-oriented global strategic stability, international cooperation in non-traditional security fields, and the trend of major-power relations.
The seminar will set up offline venues in China and connect with foreign experts through the Internet to achieve offline and online linkage. Given the time difference, foreign experts and scholars of different regions are to be arranged for exchanges and discussions at different times.
The sponsor has invited 32 well-known experts from 12 countries for this year’s forum, including Ezra Feivel Vogel, former Director of Harvard’s Fairbank Center for East Asian Research and the Harvard University Asia Center, Joseph Nye, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs under the US Department of Defense, Evgeny Buzhinsky, chairman of the Russian Center for Policy Studies (PIR Center),Hugh White, emeritus professor of the Strategic Studies at the Australian National University, and Noboru Yamaguchi, vice president of the National Defense Academy of Japan.
Beijing Xiangshan Forum has been held for 9 sessions since its foundation in 2006. As a high-end defense and security dialogue platform with international influence, the forum has played an active role in promoting security dialogue and mutual trust and cooperation between countries in the Asia-Pacific, and has attracted widespread attention from across the world.
