BEIJING, Aug. 11 -- On August 10, the closing ceremony of the 18th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth and the 12th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong University Students was held at the San Wai Barracks of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
During the ten-day training and study, about 500 students from over 190 secondary schools and universities in Hong Kong underwent military training on military physical fitness, individual soldier formation movement, marching on foot, map application, and other subjects. In addition, they also observed the advanced military weapons and equipment such as infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), naval vessels, helicopters.
The Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth and the Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong University Students, launched in 2005 and 2011 respectively, are jointly organized by the Chinese PLA Hong Kong Garrison, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the Hong Kong Concerted Efforts Resource Center, the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, and other organizations. So far, more than 8,500 Hong Kong students have participated in the events.
