BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- The Chinese navy's first sailing training ship Po Lang, with midshipmen and sailors from the Dalian Naval Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy onboard, set sail on Tuesday morning from a military port in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, to conduct midshipmen ocean-going training and visit countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka,and Singapore. It will also make a technical stop in Hong Kong.
The midshipmenunder taking the ocean-going training and overseas visit mission are selected from the Dalian Naval Academy of the PLA Navy. During the mission, the midshipmen will conduct sailing equipment training and traditional navigation skill training.
This mission is aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of the midshipmen, strengthening exchanges, cooperation and mutual trust between the Chinese PLA Navy and the navies of destination countries, and contributing to the building of a maritime community of shared future .
