VIENTIANE, July 8 -- The opening ceremony of the China-Laos Friendship Shield-2024 joint military exercise was held at the training ground of the Kommadam Academy of the Lao People's Armed Forces (LPAF) in Laos on July 5.
On July 6, local time, the participating troops conducted exchanges on training subjects. As a crucial part of the adaptive training phase, the training subjects covered seven aspects, including operation of mine-clearance and explosive ordnance disposal equipment, unarmed combat, and combat wound treatment. Each subject was structured to include an overall introduction, demonstration and observation, group training, and exchanges of experience.
This is the second time for the Chinese and Lao militaries to hold this series of joint military exercises, which will help further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries. Since the beginning of the year, the two sides have engaged in multiple rounds of consultations and reached a consensus on the content of the joint exercise. Under the theme of "joint defensive operations", the participating troops will conduct drills in multi-weapon shooting, unit tactics, and combat support operations, to enhance their capabilities in executing diverse missions.
The Chinese participating troops will provide free clinic service during the exercise. Besides, the two sides will organize sports competitions, cultural performances, and other friendly exchange activities, to deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries and two militaries. It is learned that the two sides will carry out live-fire shooting exercise in the next step to lay a solid foundation for completing the following phases of the joint exercise.
