QINGDAO, Apr. 22 -- On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, the PLA Navy organized warships in active service to call at cities with the same name and conduct open day activities with the theme of "warships returning to hometowns".
Based on the application from naming cities and the combat readiness training schedule, naval vessels in active service such as the guided-missile destroyers Tangshan, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Haikou, and the guided-missile frigates Yantai, Rizhao, and Wenzhou have docked and opened to the public in ports of their home cities since April 20. Among them, the warships of Tangshan, Xiamen, Rizhao and Wenzhou were berthed and opened in their naming cities for the first time.
During the following days, the warships will open decks and honor showrooms to the public and organize training subjects such as semaphore flags display, light weapons disassembly and assembly, damage control drills, and battle wound rescue.
