NANNING, Sept. 27 – Chinese "Peace Angel" military medical team flew back to Nanning Wuxu International Airport from Phnom Penh，Cambodia，by several Y-20 transport aircraft on September 26, which marks a successful ending of the China-Cambodia "Peace Angel-2023" exercise and medical service activities.
During the 13 days in Cambodia, troops from China and Cambodia conducted a joint medical service exercise for the first time centered on the theme of "joint international humanitarian medical relief in severe flood and hurricane disasters", opening up a new field for cooperation between the two militaries.
During the joint exercise, the Chinese "Peace Angel" military medical team also dispatched medical experts of 31 different disciplines to provide medical treatment and medicine, scientific education and lectures for nearly 2,000 Cambodian military personnel and civilians, with a total of over 7,700 packs of 85 kinds of medicine distributed, which had been widely appreciated by local communities.
In order to test the cross-border mobility and rapid casualty evacuation capabilities of the Chinese large transport aircraft, Y-9 ambulance aircraft and Y-20 transport aircraft were dispatched and flew over three countries including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The Y-20 transport aircraft was applied to the deployment and withdrawal of Chinese participants and materials. Nearly 1,000 pieces of medical equipment and materials participating in the exercise were transported using modular pallets, greatly increasing the operational efficiency.
An official from the Logistic Support Department of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) pointed out that this joint exercise was not only a test of the cross-border maneuverability and rapid casualty evacuation capabilities of the large military transport aircraft under real combat circumstances, but also an efficient collaboration and training drill for the medical service and power-projection forces.
