BEIRUT, Sep. 14 – The 21st Chinese peacekeeping multi-role engineering company and construction engineering company to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) successfully passed the United Nations' third-quarter equipment assessment on September 12. All equipment met the standards stipulated by the United Nations.
The assessment team, sent by the UNIFIL, visited the barracks of the Chinese contingent located in southern Lebanon, conducted detailed inspections on more than 20,000 primary equipment and self-sustainment materials in 27 categories, including weapons and equipment, mechanical vehicles, communication devices, office appliances, and accommodation supplies.
Since its deployment to the mission area in August last year, the 21st Chinese peacekeeping troops to UNIFIL Lebanon have safely removed more than 2,000 mines, accomplished over 120 construction tasks, and treated more than 4,000 UN personnel and locals. Chinese peacekeepers earned extensive compliments from the UNIFIL, Lebanon government and local people for their excellent performance of zero casualties in mine-clearing, zero accidents in construction, and zero errors in medical treatment.
