DILI, Sep. 4 -- Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark, which is on the Harmonious Mission 2023, arrived at the port of Dili in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the last stop of the mission, on September 3, starting its seven-day visit and humanitarian medical service there. This is the second visit to Timor-Leste by the hospital ship Peace Ark, and the fourth time by the Chinese naval vessel.
A welcome ceremony was held by the Timor-Leste government at the dock. President of Timor-Leste Jose Ramos-Horta came in person and delivered a speech. Over 300 people, including Timor-Leste Chief of the Defence Force Lt. Gen. Falur Rate Laek, staff of Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste, and representatives of overseas Chinese attended the ceremony.
Immediately after the ceremony, Peace Ark started its service, providing diagnosis and treatment to the patients boarding the ship. And several medical detachments were dispatched ashore to inspect in medical service points, and evaluate conditions of surgical patients in Guido Valadares National Hospital, preparing for subsequent service.
During the visit, the Chinese mission commander will call on Timor-Leste senior government and military leaders. Meanwhile, the President and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste will board and visit the ship.
While providing diagnosis and treatment aboard the ship, Peace Ark will also send several medical expert teams to various areas and sectors in Timor-Leste to provide medical inspections and service.
