PORT VILA, Vanuatu, Aug. 16– Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark, which is on the Harmonious Mission 2023, concluded its seven-day visit and medical service in Vanuatu on August 15, and left for the fourth stop of the mission, Port Honiara in the Solomon Islands.
Vanuatu Prime Minister Kalsakau, together with staff of the Chinese embassy in Vanuatu and representatives of local residents and overseas Chinese, came to the wharf in spite of the rain to see off Peace Ark.
During the visit to Vanuatu, Peace Ark has provided free medical service to the local people and overseas Chinese. Besides the round-the-clock clinical service provided on the ship, multiple medical detachments were sent to Vila Central Hospital, health centers, communities and villages to conduct joint diagnosis and treatment, academic exchange and health education activities.
During the seven-day visit, Peace Ark has served 6,573 local patients, assisted in 5,597 medical checks, completed 30 operations, and conducted 121 tripartite diagnosis and treatment for local people, in cooperation with the Chinese medical assistance team to Vanuatu and the Vila Central Hospital, which were highly appreciated by Vanuatu people and local media.
