MACAO, June 1 -- Before the International Children’s Day, 260 students from nine primary schools in Macao were invited to a camp visit at the Taipa barracks of the PLA garrison stationed in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). They toured an exhibition hall in the camp, learned about the national and military development, and experienced the driving and shooting simulative training facilities.
“This visit is a rare opportunity, and I am very impressed by the equipment on-site,” said Zheng Shupei, a Grade 5 student from the China-Portuguese School in Taipa, Macao. She is a fan of the military and has been eagerly looking forward to visiting the troops in Macao. Knowing that the school would organize a visit to military camp, she signed up as soon as possible.
“I came to the military camp with my classmates and learned a lot about national defense and military development. It was a very meaningful experience,” said Lei Enshi, also a Grade 5 student, as he walked out of the military exhibition hall.
“A strong country and a powerful military will make Macao a better place,” said Miss Cen Weikang after visiting the military exhibition hall with students. “Seeing the development of the country is getting better and better, and the military is getting stronger and stronger, every one of us is proud of the great motherland.
The PLA Macao Garrison and the Government of the Macao SAR have established a good cooperation mechanism for a series of themed activities and ceremonies including national flag team training, military summer camps, military barrack open day, and visits of military exhibition halls, in a bid to promote the spirit of patriotism and love for Macao.
