BEIJING, Oct. 8 -- Recently, 700 peacekeepers of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were awarded the UN Peace Medal of Honor.
The Peace Medal of Honor is an important award established by the UN to recognize the outstanding contributions to the cause of peace of mankind. Since its deployment to the mission area in December last year, the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion has completed more than 150 tasks including security guard, armed patrols and contingency responses within the UNMISS command framework. It has also carried out free clinic for multiple times, and donated more than 10,000 humanitarian aid materials.
