BEIJING, July 2 -- The 22nd Chinese peacekeeping force to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) received the first prize in the UNIFIL annual environmental awards on June 27, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to promoting local environmental protection efforts in accordance with the United Nations' environmental protection principles.
It is learned that the UNIFIL consists of troops from 49 troop-contributing countries and organizes the evaluation of the environmental awards annually. This is the first time that the Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon has won the first prize in the awards.
Next, the Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon will continue to enhance environmental protection efforts, actively collaborate with local communities, conduct extensive tree planting to prevent desertification, and provide waste collection facilities and other activities to further improve the environment.
