GAO, MALI, June 21 – A United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) helicopter traveling between Gao and Kidal in Mali overturned when landing at Gao International Airport in strong sandstorm weather, causing injuries to a number of peacekeepers on June 15.
Upon receiving the first-aid order, the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to MINUSMA dispatched a rescue team to the airport to carry out on-site emergency treatment. Having evacuated the wounded back to the hospital, the medical staff rapidly conducted classified treatment and managed to restore all injured to a stable condition after three hours’ treatment.
On the following morning, the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to MINUSMA kept busy on the integrated support capability assessment of the MINUSMA, which involved examination of more than 10 qualities including operational command, coaching and training, medical treatment, security and defense, administrative management, logistic support and equipment maintenance.
With clear command and rapid action, Chinese peacekeepers handled various situations appropriately and precisely. The MINUSMA assessment group fully affirmed the excellent professional qualification demonstrated by the medical contingent especially in the continuous real operations.
