BEIJING, Feb. 22 -- The Cobra Gold 2024 Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Tabletop Exercise (HADR TTX) kicked off in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand, on February 20.
A total of 86 members from nine different countries participate in the tabletop exercise, including 18 members from the Chinese contingent. Against the background of Thailand's dual disasters of floods and earthquake, the exercise focuses on early disaster warning and information sharing, request for assistance from affected country and international deployment, military-civil coordination and cooperation mechanism in disaster response, and other topics. Besides, the Chinese contingent will also conduct thematic exchanges of experience on earthquake rescue practices, operational procedures and military-civil collaboration.
It is the 11th consecutive time that the Chinese PLA has been invited to participate in the exercise since 2014, which will help promote the exchange of experience and practices in rescue and disaster relief between the Chinese and foreign militaries, and further advance the cooperation in relevant fields.
