In order to test the cross-border mobility and rapid casualty evacuation capabilities of the Chinese large transport aircraft, Y-9 ambulance aircraft and Y-20 transport aircraft were dispatched and flew over three countries including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The Y-20 transport aircraft was applied to the deployment and withdrawal of Chinese participants and materials. Nearly 1,000 pieces of medical equipment and materials participating in the exercise were transported using modular pallets, greatly increasing the operational efficiency.
An official from the Logistic Support Department of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) pointed out that this joint exercise was not only a test of the cross-border maneuverability and rapid casualty evacuation capabilities of the large military transport aircraft under real combat circumstances, but also an efficient collaboration and training drill for the medical service and power-projection forces.
