BEIJING, Sept. 27 - The "Pure Homeland-2023" multinational joint demining operation concluded on September 23, and the Chinese participating troops departed for home on the same day.
The "Pure Homeland-2023" is a multinational joint demining operation arranged according to the consensus reached by the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts' Working Group (EWG) on Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA), and co-hosted by China and Cambodia as co-chairs of the ADMM-Plus EWG on HMA.
During the operation, demining operators from China and Cambodia conducted joint field mine-clearing operations. The Chinese instructional team provided joint training for troops from various countries on 22 subjects, including mine detector commissioning, explosives detection, and first-aid techniques, based on the international mine-clearing standard operating procedure (SOP).
Experts from the Chinese commanding group also organized workshops on the SOP of the command and coordination center, in addition to activities such as operational planning and tabletop exercises.
It is learned that the Chinese participating troops accomplished every task assigned by the command center, clearing a total of 3,000 ammunition debris of all kinds, with 13 pieces of unexploded ordnance destroyed during the operation. In the intervals of the operation, Chinese and Cambodian troops carried out activities such as cultural exchanges and material donations.
This operation has not only consolidated the ironclad friendship between China and Cambodia, but also facilitated communication and cooperation on mine-clearing experience and skills among different countries, enhanced multinational joint mine-clearing and explosive disposal capabilities, contributing to the further resolution of regional landmine contamination, deepening pragmatic non-traditional security cooperation among member states and institutions, and improving the people's safety and well-being.
