BEIJING, April 29 – “In order to protect the lives and property of Chinese citizens in Sudan, the Chinese military has been ordered to evacuate Chinese personnel in Sudan. With the assistance of Chinese embassies and consulates in relevant countries, from April 26 to 29, Beijing time, the Chinese PLA Navy's destroyer Nanning and supply ship Weishanhu have evacuated 940 Chinese citizens and 231 foreign personnel from Port Sudan to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia,” said Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, in a written statement released on Saturday.
