KUNMING, Oct. 16 -- The China-Thailand "Commando 2024" joint army training kicked off on Tuesday morning in Kunming City, southwest China's Yunnan Province. It marks the seventh event of the "Commando" series of joint training held by Chinese and Thai militaries.
Focusing on joint counter-terrorism operations, the joint training included such subjects as special demolition blasting, helicopter landing, joint search and suppression, and others. It aimed to strengthen the joint operational capabilities of the two armies and inject more positive factors into regional stability.
After the opening ceremony, the Thai participating troops observed the bayonet charge training of the Chinese participating troops and experienced the operation of Chinese light arms, unmanned combat equipment, and devices for reconnaissance, observation and detection.
It is learned that the two sides have decided to carry out instructional training on subjects including reconnaissance equipment operation. Besides, the two sides will hold training exchanges at a national counterterrorism training base. During the joint training scheduled to last until October 25, the participating troops of the two armies will also conduct a series of cultural exchange activities to promote their traditional friendship.
