BEIJING, Dec. 17 -- At the annual conference of China Association for Quality (CAQ), held on December 11 in Beijing, the first domestically-built aircraft carrier construction project, conducted by the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) under China State Shipbuilding Co., was awarded the Excellent Project Award of the 19th China Quality Award.
The aircraft carrier was completely designed, manufactured by China. The project started in November 2013 and the in-dock construction began in March 2015. After the development featured with fast speed, good quality and low cost, the ship got launched on April 26, 2017, one month ahead of schedule, which made China the seventh country in the world to build its own aircraft carriers after the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Italy, and Spain.
For better implementation of the project, the DSIC has formulated a variety of management systems, emergency measures, as well as operating procedures, in response to the management problems caused by the complex system of aircraft carrier, the considerable work amount, and the three-dimensional cross operation. Their clear organization and management procedures, as well as strict evaluation system, are highly praised by the review experts of the award.
The completion of China’s first domestically-built aircraft carrier is an innovative practice of the military-civilian integration and open cooperation system, marking significant progress in China’s technological innovation system and management system of gigantic systematic engineering.
