ZHOUSHAN, Dec. 7 -- Recently, a province-wide militia skills contest was held in Zhoushan, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province.
The two-day contest was held on the land and at sea, attracting more than 800 militia members from the Zhejiang Provincial Military Command and the militia units across the province. It was an actual combat competition in a systematic and coordinated manner, aiming to comprehensively test the combat readiness of militia forces at all levels.
The land venue was set against the background of cross-regional defense cooperation for important targets, and involved seven subjects, including reconnaissance, command, transportation support, camouflage, battlefield rescue, etc.
In the ground contest scenario, the bridges in front were damaged by the mock enemy, and the competing teams needed to erect steel bridges to ensure the maneuverability of subsequent task forces. Fifteen minutes later, all seven bridges were open to traffic.
Subsequently, the competing teams passed through and entered into fitness and shooting assessment. They needed to pass through 30-meter pile nets, cross contaminated areas, and shoot at unfixed targets.
At the same time, the rescue teams quickly organized battlefield rescue, set up tents and shelters, evacuated the wounded, and provided emergency treatment.
The maritime contest took place in the waters off Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan. Troops from 4 regiment- and division-level coastal militia units participated in the maritime contest.
During the whole process, multiple subjects, such as reconnaissance, command, and maritime shooting, were also carried out to comprehensively test the supporting capabilities for maritime missions.
