KORLA,July 30 (ChinaMil) -- The Chinese PLA Army hosted the “International Army Games - 2018” (IAG-2018) press conference for commanders of participating delegations in Korla, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on the morning of July 28.
Commanders from 10 countries including China, Belarus, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Zimbabwe introduced to Chinese and foreign media how their delegations have been preparing for the games.
The Chinese delegation is the organizer of the Korla competition area. Its commander told reporters that China will send 70 soldiers aged between 20 and 31 (their average age is 26) to participate in all the three competitions held in this area. He said that the IAG is an effective platform through which joint improvement can be achieved through competitions and exchanges.
The commander of Belarusian delegation said they will participate in the “Suvorov Attack” and the “Clear Sky” competitions. It is the first time their country takes part in the former. They are going to use all the equipment provided by the Chinese side during the competition. He said: “I am very grateful to Chinese trainers for their patient instructions on equipment they delivered to the Belarusian delegation. We will strive to achieve good results with high morale.”
The commander of Kazakhstan delegation expressed that all delegation members are from the Eastern Military Area and they are going to use the equipment provided by the Chinese side to participate in the “Suvorov Attack” competition. This is their second participation in the games, but their first in China.
The commander of Pakistani delegation stated that relations between Pakistan and China has a long history, the Chinese and the Pakistani militaries have established profound friendship, and they are very grateful to the Chinese side for their invitation. Although it is their first time to participate in competitions in China, he added, they have already learned much through participation and preparation. They are very much looking forward to the games.
According to the commander of Russian delegation, the purpose of the IAG is to improve the military competency of participating countries. China will host four competitions this year, of which three will be held by the PLA Army. He was grateful to China for its high-level preliminary preparations and believed that the Russian delegation will achieve good results.
The commander of Venezuelan delegation mentioned that their 208 soldiers will take part in nine competitions of the IAG -2018. They are also invited as an observer in other three competitions. In the Korla competition area, they will participate in the “Suvorov Attack” and “Clear Sky” competitions. He believed that they will achieve better results as they are well-prepared for the games.
The commander of the delegations of Egypt, Iran, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe also spoke at the press conference respectively and were interviewed by Chinese and foreign media.
