BEIJING, Feb. 12 (ChinaMil) -- A total of 269 delegates of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) were recently elected from 23 PLA units in accordance with legal procedures and requirements. There were 85 grassroots and technical delegates elected, accounting for 31.6 percent of the total, 34 female delegates, accounting for 12.6 percent of the total. There were 21 delegates of ethnic minority elected and 148 delegates with master's or doctorate degrees.
The average age of the delegates is 50.4, 2.7 years younger than the delegates to the 12th NPC. The new PLA delegates are all members of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and 90 of them have received second-class or higher awards. They are all outstanding officers and members drawn from all fronts of the PLA.
