The Chinese peacekeepers erect the restored blue barrels together.
BEIRUT, Jan. 4 -- The 24th Chinese peacekeeping force to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) recently completed its first blue barrels maintenance task in the southern border area of Lebanon since its deployment to the mission area on December 15, 2025.

The Chinese peacekeepers detect mines to ensure a safe operational environment.
Blue barrels are set by the UN along the temporary ceasefire line in the border area between Lebanon and Israel to mark the boundary. Affected by gunshots, coupled with wind and rain erosion, many blue barrels have been damaged, tilted, and displaced, and are therefore in urgent need of maintenance and calibration.
