
BEIJING, Jan. 6 -- The first batch of the 6th Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) left China for the mission area on January 6, 2026.
Composed of elite service members from an army brigade under the Chinese PLA 82nd Group Army, the 6th peacekeeping helicopter unit will perform one-year mission in Abyei. Their duties cover 32 different specialties and involve 15 types of missions, such as cargo transportation, aerial patrol and search and rescue. According to plan, the 2nd batch of peacekeepers will arrive in mission area in middle January, 2026.
