The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is an international observance established by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly. In 1981, the General Assembly adopted a resolution designating the opening day of its regular session in September as the International Day of Peace, with the aim of "strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples." In 2001, the General Assembly adopted another resolution designating September 21 as the fixed date for the International Day of Peace and calling on all nations and peoples to observe a cessation of hostilities throughout the day.

Over the years, the Chinese military has actively participated in UN peacekeeping operations, working with countries around the world to safeguard peace and making China's contribution to global peace and development.
