BEIJING, May 15 -- The 2nd Chinese Peacekeeping Quick Reaction Force (QRF) to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA)returned home after successfully completing its one-year mission. On May 14, 2026, the first batch of 75 peacekeepers arrived in north China's Shanxi Province aboard a Chinese PLA Air Force’s Y-20 transport aircraft.
During the mission, the Chinese peacekeeping QRF completed over 900 authorized tasks with high standards, covering a total distance of more than 27,000 kilometers. Their performance earned commendations and appreciation from the UN Headquarters and the commander of UNISFA. In addition, the contingent carried out more than 150 humanitarian assistance activities and provided medical treatment to over 200 local people, winning extensive trust and praise from the local community.
As scheduled, the second echelon of the contingent will return to China in late May.
