Japan's Defense Ministry delivered a launcher for the upgraded Type 12 surface-to-ship missile to Camp Kengun in Kumamoto City on March 9, 2026, and plans to deploy a batch of long-range, counter-strike missiles there by the end of March, 2026.
Japan has in recent years drastically readjusted its security and defense policy, relaxed restrictions on arms export, sought to develop offensive weapons, and planned to abandon its three non-nuclear principles. Japan's right-wing provocateurs are trying every means to break free from the pacifist Constitution, going further down the path of military buildup.
Now, with the planned fielding of long-range offensive weapons whose range far exceeds its territorial boundaries, Japan has completely stripped away its pretense of "exclusively defense-oriented" principle, "passive defense" strategy and "self-defense" policy. This speaks volumes about the fact that neo-militarism in Japan has become more than just a perilous tendency, but a very real threat that may wreak havoc to the regional peace and security. The international community should remain highly vigilant in this regard.
We warn the Japanese side that retreating to the old path of belligerent militarism leads nowhere but self-destruction. Should Japan dare to violate China's sovereignty and security by force, it will inevitably meet a head-on blow and suffer a greater defeat.
