On February 1, 2026, the China Coast Guard (CCG) released a promotional video titled "Law Enforcement in the Sea", which features on-site footage of patrols around the Diaoyu Dao for the first time.
At a maritime law enforcement briefing held by the CCG on January 30, CCG chief Zhang Jianming said that, since the implementation of China's Coast Guard Law on Feb 1, 2021, the CCG has deployed a total of 550,000 vessel sorties and 6,000 aircraft sorties to carry out missions protecting China's maritime rights. Over the past five years, the CCG has conducted 134 patrols in the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Dao, with 357 days of patrols in 2025 alone.
These actions of the CCG have clearly signaled that China not only has the determination but also the capability to maintain a regular presence in China's territorial waters around Diaoyu Dao. Any act of infringement or provocation will be resolutely foiled by China.
