16th Chinese Peacekeeping Force to South Sudan (Wau) Sets off

    BEIJING, Dec. 17 -- The first batch of the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Force to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) departed from Xinzheng International Airport in Zhengzhou City, central China's Henan Province, on December 17, 2025, for one-year peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

    The peacekeeping members are primarily selected from a brigade under the Chinese PLA 82nd Group Army and the General Hospital of the PLA Central Theater Command. They will undertake peacekeeping tasks including base facility construction, emergency engineering rescue, medical service support, humanitarian relief, etc.

    The second batch of peacekeepers is scheduled to arrive in the mission area in late December.
