BEIJING, Nov. 2 -- On November 1, General Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Suriname Defense Minister Krishna Mathoera who was attending the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China.
Gen. Zhang said that China-Suriname relations have long been at the forefront of China's relations with Caribbean countries, standing as a model of friendly coexistence and equitable treatment between nations. The relationship between the two militaries has been developing at a good pace, with constant reciprocal visits of groups, steady progress in personnel training and exchanges, and a series of practical cooperation achievements in various fields. China is willing to work with Suriname to strengthen strategic coordination, expand practical cooperation and promote the high-quality development of bilateral military relations.
Mathoera congratulated on the success of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, saying that Suriname and China have long enjoyed friendly relations. Suriname appreciates the help and support from China and is ready to work together with the Chinese military to elevate the mil-to-mil relationship to a new height.
