Wu Qian, male, was born in 1973 in Beijing.
He was enrolled in the PLA Institute of International Relations in 1991. After graduation in 1995, Wu had served successively as the assistant engineer in the Armored Forces Equipment Research Institute, staff officer and chief of the Foreign Affairs Office of the China’s Ministry of National Defense (MND), deputy defense attaché of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, and section chief of the Information Bureau of the MND. In June 2015, he began to serve as deputy director of the Information Bureau of the MND and spokesperson of the MND. In January 2016, he was appointed deputy director of the Information Office of the MND and still the spokesperson of the MND. In August 2017, Senior Colonel Wu Qian was appointed the director general of the MND Information Office and remained MND spokesperson.
Wu had studied at the University of Birmingham and received his MBA degree there.
Senior Colonel Wu Qian is married and has a daughter.
