BEIJING, July 12 -- According to the annual military engagement plan and bilateral agreement between China and Russia, the two militaries started Exercise Joint Sea-2024 in the waters and airspace near Zhanjiang City, south China's Guangdong Province, in early July, said a Chinese defense spokesperson at a regular press briefing on Friday.
According to Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, the ongoing exercise is to demonstrate the resolve and capabilities of the two sides in jointly addressing maritime security threats and preserving global and regional peace and stability.
“It will further deepen China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era,” noted the spokesperson.
