General Wei said that recent years have witnessed a consolidated and enhanced China-Philippines relationship under the joint guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Most notably, the two sides have decided to establish a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership since President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Philippines in November 2018, pointing out the direction for the future development of China-Philippines relations.
The relationship between the two militaries is an important part of the relations between the two countries. The Chinese military is willing to work with the Philippine side to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders, grasp the correct direction, promote pragmatic cooperation, strengthen multilateral coordination, properly handle contradictions and differences, promote the in-depth development of bilateral military cooperation, and contribute to maintaining regional security and stability, said Wei.
General Luna said that the Philippines is grateful to China for its support and assistance to the Philippines and its military. The Philippine side attaches great importance to the development of the Philippines-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Luna also said the Philippines is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with China in various fields, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and make new contributions to the healthy and stable development of the relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
