YINCHUAN, Dec. 4 (ChinaMil) -- The "Cooperation-2017" joint anti-terrorism training between the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) and Russian Federation National Guard kicked off on Saturday in a training base near Yinchuan, capital city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

This joint anti-terrorism training is a concrete move to deepen the friendly cooperative relations between China's APF and Russia's National Guard and to further enrich the pragmatic exchanges between the two sides, an official with the Chinese APF said.

It is also aimed at improving the participants' capabilities in carrying out joint anti-terrorism missions and tackling terrorism threats, the official continued, adding that the training is not directed at any third party.

The joint anti-terrorism training will be held from December 2 to 13 at the integrated training ground, the Qingtongxia tactical training base and other training fields of the Chinese APF in Ningxia.

The training includes such subjects as anti-terrorism skills and tactics, anti-terrorism command, seminar on fighting tactics, mountain joint anti-terrorism operations and other comprehensive training subjects.

China and Russia sent 32 members respectively to form the mixed training groups to participate in the joint training.

The Chinese Armed Police Force sent a codenamed "Sand Fox" commando unit, and the Russian National Guard dispatched a codenamed "Vityaz" commando unit and a codenamed "Rys" rapid response force.

Liu Zhijun, leader of the Chinese team, said that the participants will complete the training courses jointly set by China and Russia, and learn from each other in exchanging anti-terrorism tactics and experiences, so as to improve capabilities, enhance friendship and deepen cooperation.

The joint anti-terrorism training is the 4th cross-border cooperation between similar troops of China and Russia following the "Cooperation-2007" joint drill, "Cooperation-2013" joint training and "Cooperation-2016" joint anti-terrorism training.

It is the first time that the codenamed "Sand Fox" commando unit of the Chinese Armed Police Force participates in Chinese-Russian joint anti-terrorism training.
