CMC vice chairman meets with Myanmar military chief

BEIJING, Nov. 24 (ChinaMil) -- Gen. Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), met with the visiting Commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing on Thursday.

Xu said that Min Aung Hlaing' s visit is on an important occasion, when the last-month-concluded 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress has determined the leading position of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping’s thinking on the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, planned the road map and timetable for comprehensively building China into a modern powerful socialist country with prosperous, democratic, harmonic and beautiful features, and provided an action guideline for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Xu expressed that China attaches great importance to the China-Myanmar relations and will stick to developing the China-Myanmar friendship and supporting Myanmar to realize its domestic peace and national reconciliation no matter how international and the two countries’ domestic situations change.

The Chinese military is willing to work with the Myanmar military to strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and jointly maintain border stability, so as to promote the constant development of the relations between the two countries and the two militaries, he added. Min Aung Hlaing expressed his congratulation on the successful completion of the 19th CPC National Congress, adding that he has deeply felt that the great achievements in China’s construction and development are inseparable from the CPC leadership.

Myanmar and China are neighbors with the profound “Paukphaw” friendship (a long-lasting friendship between the Myanmar and Chinese peoples), Min Aung Hlaing said.

China’s development is beneficial to Myanmar’s development, and Myanmar positively supports and participates in China’s Belt and Road construction, he continued.

The Myanmar military is willing to work with the Chinese military to strengthen the pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and promote border security and stability, so as to bring better benefits to peoples of the two countries, he added.
