4th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to S. Sudan sets out

ZHENGZHOU, Nov. 16 (ChinaMil) -- One hundred and eighty Chinese peacekeepers, who are the first batch of the 700-member 4th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to South Sudan (Juba),left for Juba, capital of South Sudan by taking a United Nations charter plane at the Xinzheng International Airport in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China’s Henan province, on the evening of November 14.

The 700 Chinese peacekeepers are mainly from the 83rd Combined Corps of the PLA Army. It is a multi-arm peacekeeping force including infantrymen, artillerymen, scouts and engineers.

All members of the 4th battalion are scheduled to go to South Sudan in four batches to take over the one-year peacekeeping responsibilities from the 3rd battalion, and the last batch will depart from Zhengzhou on November 28.
