DJIBOUTI, August. 23 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy's hospital ship Peace Ark arrived at Djibouti Port of the Republic of Djibouti on Wednesday for a 9-day friendly visit. This is the first time that the Peace Ark has paid a visit to Djibouti after seven years.
Nearly 200 people welcomed the visiting Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark at the port, including Djibouti Armed Forces Chief of Staff Brigadier General Tahir Ali Mohamed, Chief of Djiboutian Navy Captain Abdourahman Aden Cher, Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti Fu Huaqiang and Defense Attaché to Djibouti Ji Mingzhou, Commander of the PLA Logistics Support Base in Djibouti Liang Yang, and officers and soldiers of the Djiboutian Navy.
During the visit, Rear Admiral Guan Bailin, commanding officer of the "Harmonious Mission-2017" task, will call on the Djibouti Armed Forces Chief of Staff Brigadier General Tahir Ali Mohamed and Chief of the Djiboutian Navy Captain Abdourahman Aden Cher, and visit the Djiboutian military facilities.
Hospital ship Peace Ark will treat local patients and send medical experts to local hospitals to carry out joint medical treatment and medical training.
In addition, the Navy officers and soldiers of the two sides will carry out sports events and other exchange activities to deepen mutual friendship. Peace Ark will also provide medical service for officers, soldiers and other workers of the PLA logistics support base in Djibouti.
It is said that due to limited local medical conditions, many Djiboutian patients do not receive timely treatment. The Peace Ark once visited Djibouti in 2010 and provided free medical services.
