GAO, Mali, Aug. 23 (ChinaMil) -- The 5th Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali successfully passed the first equipment inspection on August 19, local time, and all its facilities and equipment are compliant with the UN standards.

The inspection group consisted of five officials from the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). In the past few days, in the guard, engineer and medical detachments of the Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali, the five MINUSMA inspectors conducted examination on 21,000 pieces of equipment in 24 categories including vehicles, weapons, machinery, office, medical and fire fighting.

The inspection results proved that all the facilities and equipment of the three detachments met the technical and tactical requirements as well as UN standards.

The UN equipment inspection is usually conducted every three month. It is a comprehensive assessment of whether the major peacekeeping facilities and equipment provided by the troop-contributing countries can meet the requirements of peacekeeping. It serves as the fundamental basis for the troop-contributing countries to obtain economic compensation from the United Nations.
