Chinese naval taskforce arrives in Karachi for Aman-17 multilateral exercise

KARACHI PORT, PAKISTAN, Feb. 10 (ChinaMil) -- The 24th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived at the Karachi Port of Pakistan on the morning of February 9, local time.

The taskforce is comprised of the guided-missile destroyer Harbin, the guided-missile frigate Handan and the comprehensive supply ship Dongpinghu.

The taskforce is there for the Exercise Aman -- 17 (Aman meaning peace in Urdu), a multilateral naval exercise initiated by the Pakistan Navy in the North Arabian Sea.

The exercise, which consists of the three parts of port and shore exercise, maritime exercise and anti-terrorism exercise of the marine corps, will be held in Karachi and nearby sea areas from February 10 to 14.

Countries including China, Russia, the United States, Britain and Australia have sent naval vessels, aircraft, special forces and observers to participate in the exercise.
