  China has sent another fleet for overseas missions. Chinese naval forces will be on escort duties in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia. They will be stationed there over the next four months.

  A spokesman for the Defense Ministry says that China's position on suspending its military visits with the United States "remains unchanged" due to U.S. arms sales to Taiwan. Huang Xueping urged the United States to "speak and act cautiously" in a bid to avoid further damage to bilateral ties... as reports say the U.S. Congress will press the Pentagon to sell advanced fighter jets to Taiwan.

    Northwest China is recovering from the worst snow in six decades. Troops and armed police are helping locals in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, clear heavy snow on the roads in order to bring transport services back to normal.

Chinese rescuers return to Beijing
  After a two-week operation in Haiti, China's 50-member rescue team has returned to Beijing. They brought with them, 48 Chinese citizens who were stranded after the quake.
Chinese army medical team reaches Haiti
  A team of Chinese army doctors and nurses has arrived in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince to provide medical care for residents of the quake-ravaged country.
