BEIJING, March 30 (ChinaMil) -- General Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Nepal's Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri in Beijing on Tuesday morning.

Xu Qiliang noted that China and Nepal are close neighbors with generations of friendship and comprehensive cooperation, and the two countries have witnessed decades of healthy and steady development of bilateral relations since they established diplomatic ties in 1955, setting an example for equality and peaceful co-existence between nations.

China highly appreciates that all Nepali administrations have upheld the "one China" policy and never allowed any force to engage in activities against China's interests on its territory, and feels grateful to the Nepal military for the important role it plays in that process, Xu continued.

Chinese President Xi Jinping called on both governments to make the two nations a China-Nepal community of common destiny when meeting with Nepali Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on March 21, 2016. Both sides are expected to implement the political consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, accommodate each other's major concerns, and enrich the connotations of bilateral cooperation in all areas, Xu noted.

Xu spoke highly of the long-term friendliness between Chinese and Nepalese militaries and their pragmatic and fruitful cooperation in all fields. He hoped the two militaries can seize the opportunity of the thriving bilateral relations to further strengthen strategic communication, expand cooperation in fields such as personnel training, equipment and technology, and disaster relief, and seek new growth points for mil-to-mil relations.

Chhetri praised the time-honored friendship between the two countries and appreciated China's consistent and strong help to Nepal in its national and military development.

Nepalese military is willing to reinforce cooperation with the Chinese military in the form of exchange of visits by delegations, personnel training and joint training and exercises, with the aim to push forward the mil-to-mil relation to new heights, Chhetri said.
