China, Tajikistan defense ministers hold talks

        BEIJING, October 15 (ChinaMil) -- General Chang Wanquan, state councilor and defense minister of the People's Republic of China (PRC), held a work meeting with Lieutenant-General Sherali Mirzo, defense minister of Tajikistan, who is now visiting China and participating in the Xiangshan Forum, in Beijing on the morning of October 15, 2015.

        Chang Wanquan said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan, the bilateral ties have been continuously promoted to a new level and the bilateral cooperation in various fields have yielded substantial results. He continued that the two countries enjoy frequent high-level exchanges and ever-deepening mutual political trust, and always share mutual support on major issues concerning each other's core interests.

        Chang pointed out that over the years, the two militaries have carried out pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in various fields and achieved important results. He said the Chinese side is willing to work with the Tajikistan side to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of states, further keep closer high-level exchanges, strengthen the pragmatic cooperation in such fields as anti-terrorism and personnel training, and continue the good momentum of development of cooperation between the two militaries, so as to constantly enrich the connotation of the development of the relations between the two countries.

        Sherali Mirzo said that Tajikistan and China are strategic partners enjoying close and friendly ties, and the relationship between the two militaries has been developing rapidly in recent years under the guidance of the two heads of states.

        Sherali Mirzo added that the Tajikistan side thanks the Chinese side for its support and assistance toTajikistan's military and hopes that the two sides can further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in such fields as anti-terrorism and push forward the development of the relationship between the two militaries continuously.

        Chang Wangquan held a welcome ceremony for Sherali Mirzo and accompanied him to inspect the honor of guard of the three services of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) before the meeting.
