Yang Zhengyu
Yang Zhengyu, born in Chifeng of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1931, was a pilot of an aviation division of the Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) air force.
Yang Zhenyu was devoted to his post as a wingman and showed his usual courage and wisdom in screening his leader and protecting his fellow pilots from attacking of the U.S. warplanes. He took part in tens of air battles in the War to Resist the U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea and shot down three warplanes of the U.S. air force.
Yang Zhengyu was conferred the military rank of Major General of the PLA Air Force in 1988 and Lieutenant General in 1990. He was the former deputy commander of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force.
