History supports China's change of anti-Japanese war duration

BEIJING, Jan. 13 (ChinaMil) -- China's Ministry of Education recently urged that the change of duration of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression from eight years to fourteen years should be implemented in the textbooks of universities, middle schools and primary schools of China since the spring semester in 2017.
Why the change? Because it reflects the true history –in order to occupy the northeast of China, Japanese invading troops launched the September 18th Incident on September 18, 1931. The September 18th Incident lighted a match to the war of resistance against Japanese aggression in China, which was years earlier than the battles in Europe in late 1930s. The span of 14 years is a better embodiment of the long course of Chinese people’s resistance against Japan’s aggression, and China’s great sacrifices for the victory of the anti-Fascist war around the world.
The change of conception from "eight-year anti-Japanese war" to "fourteen-year anti-Japanese war" further embodies China’s respect for the factuality of history.
However, such a change has stirred up the "fragile" nerve of Japanese right-wing forces. They assume that China "is trying to take a tougher stance against Japan through history education". This attitude and the thinking behind it reflect the foul disease of Japanese right-wing forces.
In recent years, Japanese right-wing politicians sometimes advertised that "aggression" remains undetermined, sometimes claimed that "China lays too much emphasis on the war of resistance against Japanese aggression and puts historical issues onto the international table, which is not conducive to regional peace and stability”. They were even“shocked” to find that the United States, its "ally", includes the Nanjing Massacre in history textbooks.
Japanese right wings announced they may take retaliatory measures against the recent erection of a "comfort woman" statue by a South Korean citizen group in front of the Japanese Consulate General in Pusan. It is already disgraceful for Japanese right wings to beat around the bush on historical issues, and it is rather more outrageous to try to cover up their war crimes, and even beautify the aggressive history.
History is there. The international community shall stay vigilant against the Japanese right-wing forces. At the end of 2016, taking the opportunity of commemorating the 75th anniversary of Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Hawaii in the United States.
Abe stepped in the USS Arizona Memorial of the Pearl Harbor and delivered a speech, in which he sensationally talked about the sufferings of American soldiers and their loved ones, but did not sincerely apologize for the tragedy caused by Japanese militarism. Instead of reflecting on the war crimes, he talked much about "reconciliation" – this is an escape from historical responsibility on the pretext of “reconciliation”, a smoke screen of peace under the cover of “reconciliation”, and an attempt to consolidate the "alliance" in the name of “reconciliation” – such "reconciliation" is like a building on quicksand, and is baseless. No wonder some commentators concluded that Abe's visit "has made a spiritual sneak attack" to Pearl Harbor.
History is there. Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression was an important part of the world's anti-Fascist war, and Chinese people made significant contribution to the victory of the world's anti-Fascist war. Victory does not come easy, and we need to defend the hard-fought results. People’s good wishes for world peace in the 21st century do not allow any shameless sneak attack by any person or force!
