At 17:40 of January 25, the home-made new-type rescue helicopter piloted by Ni Pengyuan, deputy head of a ship-board aircraft regiment of the aviation force of the North China Sea Fleet (NCSF) under the Navy of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), landed on the rear deck of the “Peace Ark” hospital ship, wrapping up the last flight of the first ship-landing training at night for the large-sized ship-board rescue helicopters of the PLA Navy. Up to now, the helicopters have successfully landed on the ship for 290 sorties in 4 consecutive flying days.

The ship-board aircraft regiment of the NCSF is the first ship-board aircraft troop unit of the PLA Navy and it successfully conducted the landing on warships at night for the “Z-9” small-sized ship-board helicopter several years ago. This training of large-sized rescue helicopter’s landing on the warships at night marks a new challenge and a breakthrough.
