KORLA, Dec. 5 (ChinaMil) -- The one-week mountain infantry joint training of the armed forces of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states wrapped up in Korla of West China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday.
The participating troops carried out training in physical strength, combat skills and comprehensive operations. They expressed that the joint training allowed them to learn from each other and helped enhance collaboration in joint actions.
The subjects for the joint training were set up according to the tactical skill training of the mountain infantries of various SCO member states and close to the real mountain operations, in a bid to examine the combat capability of the infantrymen of the SCO armed forces.
In recent years, military joint drills and training under the SCO framework has embarked on the institutionalized and normalized track, and has played an increasingly significant role in maintaining the regional security and stability, Maj. Gen. Ye Jianjun, deputy commander of the Chinese PLA's Xinjiang Military Command, told PLA Daily.
