CMC vice chairman meets with Myanmar's senior military official

BEIJING, November 2 (ChinaMil) -- Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) Xu Qiliang met with Min Aung Hlaing, the visiting Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services of Myanmar, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xu Qiliang said that Myanmar and China are friendly neighbors with "paukphaw" kinship, and China hopes that Myanmar will continue to push forward its peaceful national reconciliation process and embark on a development path of stability, unity and prosperity.

The Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with Myanmar military to implement the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Myanmar’s leaders, deepen the pragmatic cooperation, jointly maintain peace and stability in the China-Myanmar border areas and push forward the steady advancement of the China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic partnership, Xu said.

Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar and China are like bothers and Myanmar attaches importance to the development and stability in the Myanmar-China border areas. Myanmar's Defense Services is willing to constantly deepen and expand exchange and cooperation with the Chinese People's Liberation Army, added Min Aung Hlaing.
